Sir Reginald Savory 1908 - 1999, a leading businessman, entrepreneur was New Zealand's only builder to be elected a Fellow of the Institute of Builders, Great Britain. He was president and Life Member of Auckland & NZ Builders Federation. Savory was also chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, President of New Zealand Association of Ports & Harbours, Seddon Memorial Technical College & Auckland Technical Institute. His numerous business achievements included the introduction of shipping containers to New Zealand.
