Albert Edward Aldis 1869 - 1921 was born in London, UK. He arrived in Auckland with his family in 1882 and exhibited with the Auckland Society of Arts 1887-1888. He travelled to Australia where he later settled in Sydney, NSW. In 1892 Aldis exhibited in Melbourne with the Victorian Artists' Society then with the Royal Art Society of NSW 1916-1919
