This freestanding pounamu piece, with its richly leafed gold cross, plays with the inherent differences pertaining to values in culture. Pounamu, long considered by Maori to denote status and authority, is teamed with gold leaf, the metallic lustre offset by the polished and the raw surface of the stone.
