Walter Einbeck was a German oil painter renowned for his figure paintings. These were often of mythological and theosophical subjects such as Allegorie der Schonheit and Traumreise. Einbeck studied painting at the Kunstgewerbeschule (Arts and Crafts) School in Magdeburg; the Munich Art Academy from 1908 to 1910; and the Weimar Art School under Max Thedy and Ludwig von Hoffmann. His style is closely associated to the German Sezessionen movement, a group of artists that rebelled against the Salon system in the late nineteenth century and explored the ideas of various modern movements such as the Impressionists. In 1919 Einbeck resettled in Munich where he studied with Franz von Stuck. As his career progressed, he set up his own studio in 1921.
