This spectacular large scale canvas is an outstanding example of a contemporary cubist masterpiece by leading New Zealand artist, James Watkins. At the centre of the painting, amidst toned and shaded cubes of colour, stands the signature Watkins' red roof, a reminder that home is where the heart is. The rendition of the blue sky in this painting relates to Michael Smither's observation of a work in progress and his suggestion that not only the landscape, but the sky too, be depicted from a cubist perspective.
