At The Beach
Over twenty five canvases, both large and small dedicated to capturing New Zealand life At The Beach. Of his first solo exhibition in four years Williams says:
"These paintings reflect the strong, simple shapes of our landscape created by our clear New Zealand light. In some of these works I have applied more paint than usual in order to create greater texture than in the past - it is a process of feeling the landscape through brush strokes.
In these new works I have not allowed the subject to influence the canvas size. Intimate coastal scenes that once would have been painted as small works, are now rendered on a large scale. I've enjoyed the contrast of small scenes being painted large. These paintings are a tribute to our golden summer".
