Introducing ... Tatyana Kulida Tue, 24 Oct 2023
Wellington based Tatyana Kulida is a gifted, realist painter specialising in portraiture and still life. Since the age of 17 Tatyana lived and studied in the United States before moving to Italy to further her studies at the Florence Academy of Art. The Academy specialises in teaching classical realism using the French Academic Method (Ecole des Beaux-Arts). On completion of her studies, Tatyana was appointed as a tutor, remaining there for three years before coming to New Zealand in 2015. Tatyana says, "I believe observation is key, it enables me to witness beauty". The element of beauty is evident throughout her work.
The recipient of numerous awards, Tatyana's work is held in private collections in Australasia, Britain and the United States as well as the permanent collections of the New Britain Museum of American Art, Connecticut and the Cameron Museum of Art, Wilmington. Her work has featured in The Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition 2014 and The Royal Society of British Painters Exhibition 2015 at London's Mall Galleries where she received the De Laszio Award for Classical Draughtsmanship.
