The Rosie and Michael Horton Collection of Minhinnick Cartoons & Others Wed, 22 Mar 2006

On 23 May 2006 International Art Centre will offer a collection of Minhinnick , Tom Scott, Laurence Klarc and others original Cartoons for sale by auction. The collection is being sold on behalf of Mr & Mrs Rosie and Michael Horton.

For more than 30 years thousands of men and women in New Zealand must have grinned approvingly at the regular black-and-white comments of Gordon Minhinnick, dean of New Zealand cartoonists. Unlike Low's pompous Colonel Blimp, Minhinnick's mild bespectacled John Citizen has ignored the headlines on the cable page in favour of the provocative nearer home. His characteristic strips, devoid of bludgeonings, administer shrewdly-aimed smacks that sting but never rankle.

This rare collection will go under the hammer Tuesday 23 May as part of our Collectable Art Auction.
