The late Dr E.H. McCormick was best known for his biographies of Frances Hodgkins and his books Letters and Art in New Zealand and Augustus Earle in New Zealand. McCormick's book on Omai, Pacific Envoy, the young Polynesian who returned to England with Captain James Cook and was painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds, was published by the Auckland University Press in 1977.
