Doris Zinkeisen travelled to New Zealand on her honeymoon following her marriage to Edward Johnstone, the same year when she sang for the Duke and Duchess of York when they were in Rotorua in 1927. That was followed by a concert tour around New Zealand.

Doris Zinkcisen, the artist suggests that women of the future may may live in glass houses, wearing exquisite fabrics of spun glass, unbreakable and not trans-parent, and also materials of metallic origin, which, if torn, can be repaired at any handy garage.

From society painter to war artist, Doris Zinkeisen was the first artist to enter the infamous Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp after it was liberated on 15th April 1945.
