The sandstone headland of Hawkes Bay's Cape Kidnappers was named by Captain Cook in 1769 following an attempt by local Maori to abduct one of his crew. Today the cape is home to a world class golf course, a luxury lodge and the largest gannet colony in the world. In this magnificent cubist rendition, the aerodynamic anatomy of Dahlberg's gannet is strikingly contemporary, the embodiment of a free spirit with the wind beneath her wings.
