The Rugby World Cup pays a visit to International Art Centre Tue, 26 Jul 2011
International Art Centre was an unexpected host to the Webb Ellis Cup for a short time this week - the trophy awarded to the winner of the Rugby World Cup! What a great privilege to have it in our gallery for a photo shoot.
The trophy stands 38cm tall, is gilded silver and is supported by two cast scroll handles. It has been held by four nations; New Zealand, Australia, England and current holders South Africa.
RWC 2011 kicks off 9 September in Auckland.
The Webb Ellis Cup was in Orewa most of today and heads to Whangarei as part of the RWC Roadshow tomorrow.
Our thanks to James Irwin of RWC 2011 for making this happen in our 40th Anniversary year.
