The figure of the water-bearer appears in the classical art of Greece and Rome signifying industry, abundance and beauty. Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci spent a life- time drawing water in motion. The Impressionists, radically capturing the effects of light, gifted the world with paintings such as Renoir's Boating Party and Monet's Waterlillies.
