Gabryel Harrison Exhibition Opening 15 May Wed, 07 May 2014
International Art Centre's gallery is currently preparing for 'Passionata,' a major solo exhibition by Vancouver based painter and poet Gabryel Harrison. Since completing a Fine Arts degree at the University of Ottawa in 1980 Harrison's creative journey has been an interesting one spanning two hemispheres.
Gallery Director, Frances Davies introduced Harrison to the New Zealand market in 2011, describing both the artist and her work 'as something special' and the scale, scope and quality of Harrison's painting as 'life-enhancing'. A practicing Buddist, Harrison believes it is the responsibility of the artist to awake awareness. Her paintings invite the viewer to slow down and perceive art as an object of contemplation or evidence of wonder. Passionata showcases Harrison's unique landscapes and florals from the 15th - 31st May.
